Impacts of solar radiation modification on precipitation extremes in Central China
Authors: Zeqian Feng, Mou Leong Tan, Mohd Amirul Mahamud, Shiyuan Cheng & Chenglei Hou
Synopsis: This study examines how Solar Radiation Modification affects late-21st-century precipitation in Central China using GeoMIP6 simulations. Under SSP585, total rainfall and extremes rise sharply, while SSP245 shows milder change. SRM scenarios offset intense increases, with G6sulfur showing stronger, more uniform suppression than G6solar. Regional differences persist, altering wet periods in southern monsoon areas and boosting rainfall in northern provinces.

Synopsis: This study develops a selectively transparent photothermal membrane for solar radiation management in building windows using a tannic acid-grafted Cu1.95S/MoS2 heterojunction. It reduces solar transmittance by 25.3% with minimal light loss, raises photothermal temperature by 23.4 °C, enhances UV and NIR absorption, prevents fogging, and generates stable voltage, supporting next-generation sustainable window design.
A climate risk management typology: Integrating approaches to reduce risk
Authors: Camilla Hyslop , Tristram Walsh, Estelle Paulus, and Michael Obersteiner
Synopsis: This study addresses the growing need for integrated climate risk management as overshoot becomes more likely. It introduces a qualitative typology to clarify how different climate interventions interact across varied risk scenarios. Demonstrated through six intervention portfolios, the framework helps practitioners understand how combined strategies can reduce loss and damage. It expands existing tools by explicitly framing them around risk and applying them to diverse future climate contexts.

Synopsis: This response challenges Siegert et al. (2025) for presenting an incomplete picture of polar climate interventions, particularly SAI. It argues that evidence shows SAI can cool polar regions year-round, even with low-latitude injection, and that potential benefits, such as reduced ecosystem stress and tipping-point risks, were overlooked. While acknowledging risks, it stresses that research remains essential to fully assess limitations and inform future decisions, complementing, not replacing, emissions cuts.
Mitigation of Ultraviolet Solar Radiation Involving Calcite (MUSIC) - Preprint
Authors: Tanvi Nare, Prachi Prashant Thakkar, Darshini Kumar, Somya Mulla
Synopsis: This study tests calcite powder as an eco-friendly solar radiation management material by measuring its ability to block UV light on a high-altitude balloon payload. Laminated sheets with different calcite concentrations were evaluated using onboard sensors. Both calcite-treated sheets reduced UV exposure compared to the control, supporting further research into calcite and similar materials for potential use in stratospheric aerosol injection.

Understanding Forced Pacific Climate Responses with Large Ensembles - Thesis
Authors: Xing, Chen
Synopsis: This dissertation separates forced climate signals from internal variability using large ensembles. It finds no significant anthropogenic change in Pacific Decadal Variability when mean state trends are properly removed. Marine cloud brightening strongly suppresses ENSO by altering Pacific conditions, posing hydroclimate risks. Marine heatwave intensity rises mainly due to mean warming, and recent Northeast Pacific warming is largely internal variability. Accurate mean state representation is crucial.
